Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara
5-6 Hours Drive
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
At 7:30 am, your CATS driver/guide will pick you up in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep from your hotel, residence, or airport. Journey south through Kenya’s central highlands, Rift Valley escarpments, and Maasai communities.
Arrive at the Masai Mara National Reserve, check in to your lodge or tented camp, and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, lions, and other wildlife. Return for dinner and an evening at the lodge.
Day 2: Full Day at Masai Mara
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Spend a full day exploring the Mara’s rolling hills and savannahs on game drives. Your guide will track lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, and other wildlife.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Mara River, where wildebeests and zebras often cross during the Great Migration. Optional activities include visiting a local Maasai village or taking a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the park.
Overnight at your Mara lodge or tented camp.
Day 3: Masai Mara – Lake Victoria
5-6 Hours Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Start the day with an early morning game drive, then cross into Tanzania at Isebania. Meet your Tanzanian CATS driver/guide and continue to Lake Victoria, arriving in the late afternoon.
Explore the lake’s surroundings or visit nearby Bunda Market. Overnight at your Lake Victoria lodge.
Day 4: Lake Victoria – Serengeti National Park
3 Hours Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Take a morning cultural tour of Lake Victoria, including a fishing village visit. Then head to Serengeti National Park, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive.
Check in to your Serengeti lodge or tented camp and prepare for a full day of safari tomorrow.
Day 5: Full Day Serengeti Game Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Enjoy a full day of game drives across the vast Serengeti plains. Track lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and more. Visit marshes and rivers to see hippos and crocodiles. Optional morning or afternoon drives allow flexibility based on your preferences.
Overnight at your Serengeti accommodation.
Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
3-4 Hours Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Depart early for Ngorongoro Crater, stopping for a brief game drive on the way out of the Serengeti. Visit Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important archaeological sites.
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater to discover lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos, and other wildlife in this densely concentrated ecosystem. Enjoy lunch at a scenic spot, continue game viewing, and then return to the rim for a stunning sunset. Overnight at your Ngorongoro lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire National Park
3 Hours Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Optional sunrise at the crater rim before heading to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Enjoy game drives and spot the park’s resident wildlife and seasonal migrations.
Overnight at your Tarangire lodge or tented camp.
Day 8: Tarangire – Arusha / Nairobi
3 Hours Drive to Arusha | 7 Hours Drive to Nairobi
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Begin the day with a final morning game drive. Return to Arusha or Nairobi, depending on your departure, stopping for lunch en route.
Conclude your 8-day safari with memories of Kenya and Tanzania’s extraordinary wildlife, landscapes, and cultures.
