3-Day Masai Mara Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve
Distance: 250–300 km (depending on lodge or camp location)
Driving Time: Approx. 5–6 hours
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Your safari begins early at 5:00 am, when your professional driver-guide picks you up from your hotel or preferred location in Nairobi. Settle into your private 4×4 Safari Jeep as you depart for the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
The journey takes you past the breathtaking Great Rift Valley escarpment, where you’ll enjoy a scenic stop. Breakfast will be arranged along the way, and you’ll collect packed lunches for later in the day.
As you enter Maasai land, you may spot local herdsmen dressed in their vibrant traditional shukas, offering a glimpse into Kenya’s rich cultural heritage.
You’ll arrive in the Masai Mara by mid-morning and head straight into an extended game viewing drive, exploring the vast plains in search of wildlife until early evening. Afterward, you’ll check in at your selected lodge or tented camp.
Throughout the day, your guide will share insights about the landscape, wildlife, and ecosystems of this remarkable reserve. If you have specific animals or areas you’d like to focus on, simply let him know—this is your safari.
Enjoy dinner and unwind at your lodge or camp after an exciting first day in the wild.
Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today is all about pure safari immersion. You’ll rise early to catch the soft golden light of sunrise and the first movements of the wildlife. With unlimited game drives, you’ll spend the entire day exploring the Mara’s open savannahs.
Expect close encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards, as well as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and many of the park’s more than 95 mammal species.
If you’re visiting between July and October, you may witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration, when vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle cross the Mara River in search of fresh grazing. The river itself is home to hippos and powerful crocodiles waiting patiently along the banks.
For a cultural experience, you may choose to visit a Maasai village (optional). This visit offers insight into traditional Maasai life, customs, and homes.
For something truly unforgettable, you can also opt for an early-morning hot air balloon safari. Float silently over the plains as the sun rises, revealing wildlife and landscapes from a breathtaking aerial perspective. Your guide can arrange this exclusive experience.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Nairobi
Driving Time: Approx. 5–6 hours
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, you’ll begin your relaxed return journey to Nairobi. Along the way, there will be scenic stops to stretch, take photos, and enjoy the landscapes.
Lunch will be served en route, giving you time to reflect on your incredible Masai Mara adventure—three days filled with wildlife encounters, stunning scenery, and unforgettable moments.
You’ll arrive back in Nairobi in the early afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel, the airport, or another location of your choice.
