7-Day Masai Mara to Serengeti Migration Safari | Follow the Herds

6:00 AM. Depart Nairobi heading west toward the Masai Mara. The route climbs past the Great Rift Valley escarpment — pause for panoramic views. Continue through Narok town into Maasai country. Arrive at the Mara, check into your lodge, and head out for an afternoon game drive. The rolling plains are alive with wildebeest herds, zebra, and the predators that follow them.

5:30 AM. Full day in the Masai Mara. Morning drive targets the Mara River — the stage for the migration's most dramatic act. Thousands of wildebeest crowd the banks, crocodiles surface in the brown water, and the tension builds until the first animal leaps. The crossing is chaos and courage. Afternoon explores different areas — lion prides, cheetah families, elephants in the acacia woodland.

5:30 AM. Second full day exploring different sectors of the Mara. The reserve covers 1,510 square kilometres — there is always more to discover. Your guide follows the action: leopards in the riverine forest, hyena dens with playful cubs, vast herds stretching to the horizon. Bush lunch. Afternoon game drive through the Mara Triangle.

Morning game drive in the Mara. After lunch, drive south to the Kenya-Tanzania border at Isebania/Sirari. Our Tanzanian team meets you at the border post with a seamless vehicle and guide handoff — we handle all the paperwork. Continue into the Northern Serengeti, game driving as you go. The landscape opens into the vast Serengeti plains. Arrive at your Serengeti lodge by late afternoon.

5:30 AM. Full day in the Serengeti — the other half of the migration ecosystem. The herds here may be in different formation than in the Mara: massive columns moving across the central plains, gathering near the Grumeti River, or spread across the kopje-dotted landscape. Predator density is extraordinary — lion prides, cheetah trios, leopards in sausage trees.

5:30 AM. Second day explores different terrain. The Western Corridor's riverine forests, the granite kopjes of the central Serengeti, the hippo pools, and the seasonal wetlands. Your guide follows the wildlife across this vast 14,763 square kilometre park. Sunset game drive.

6:00 AM. Final sunrise game drive. After breakfast, transfer to Arusha by road or optional bush flight. Connections available to Nairobi for evening departure.
