5-Day Mt. Kenya Climb — Sirimon-Chogoria Traverse
Africa's Second Highest Peak via Its Two Most Spectacular Routes
This 5-day traverse of Mount Kenya combines the two most spectacular routes on Africa's second highest mountain. Ascend via the Sirimon Route through bamboo forest and the Mackinder Valley, summit Point Lenana (4,985m) at sunrise for breathtaking views of the main peaks Batian and Nelion, then descend the dramatic Chogoria Route — widely considered one of the most beautiful mountain descents in Africa. You'll pass the stunning Lake Michaelson set in a volcanic gorge, unique Afro-alpine zones with giant lobelias and groundsels, and pristine bamboo forest. Mt. Kenya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and far less crowded than Kilimanjaro — a hidden gem for mountain lovers.
