Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli

6:00 AM. Your driver-guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel and you set off south along the Namanga Road, passing through the Athi Plains where Maasai herdsmen walk alongside cattle in the early morning mist. Mount Kilimanjaro reveals itself gradually on the horizon as you approach Amboseli National Park — roughly four hours from Nairobi. Check into your safari lodge in time for lunch, then head out for your first game drive. Amboseli's open plains offer unobstructed views of Africa's highest peak rising dramatically behind herds of elephants, some with tusks nearly touching the ground. Your guide navigates to the Enkongo Narok swamp where hippos wallow and birdlife is prolific — watch for African fish eagles, sacred ibis, and elegant crowned cranes working the shallows. As the sun dips toward the horizon, the entire landscape glows amber beneath Kilimanjaro's silhouette.

Meals:Lunch, Dinner
Day 2

Amboseli to Tsavo West

Rise at dawn for a final morning game drive in Amboseli, capturing the mountain in its full glory before clouds gather. Elephants move through the swamps in the soft early light, and you may spot a lion pride settling after a night's hunt. After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park — roughly two to three hours via the Kimana gate. The terrain shifts dramatically from Amboseli's flat plains to Tsavo West's hilly, volcanic landscape of lava flows and dense bush. Arrive by early afternoon and visit Mzima Springs — a remarkable oasis of crystal-clear pools fed by underground streams from the Chyulu Hills. Peer through the underwater viewing chamber to watch hippos gliding beneath the surface alongside barbel fish and crocodiles. Continue with an afternoon game drive past the dramatic Shetani Lava Flow — a black volcanic expanse where ancient eruptions left the earth scorched and barren against the green bush beyond.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3

Tsavo West to Tsavo East

An early morning game drive in Tsavo West takes you through the hilly terrain where leopards are more commonly sighted than in most Kenyan parks. Stop at Roaring Rocks viewpoint for a sweeping panorama across the bush. After breakfast, you drive east to Tsavo East National Park via the Mtito Andei gate — about two hours through changing scenery. Tsavo East is Kenya's largest national park, and its vast semi-arid plains feel truly wild and untamed. The iron-rich red soil gives everything a distinctive rust colour, including the famous red elephants who dust-bathe until they're coated in crimson earth. Your afternoon game drive follows the Galana River, where crocodiles bask on sandy banks and hippo pods hold their ground midstream. Visit the Lugard Falls — actually dramatic rapids cutting through colourful, sculpted rock — and scan the plains for lion prides, buffalo herds, and giraffes browsing the scattered commiphora bush.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4

Tsavo East to Diani Beach

6:30 AM. A final early morning game drive through Tsavo East's red-earth wilderness — the low golden light catching dust kicked up by elephant herds heading to the Galana River. Watch for the enormous Mudanda Rock, a natural water catchment that draws hundreds of elephants during the dry season. After breakfast at your lodge, depart for the coast. The drive takes roughly four hours through Voi and along the Mombasa Highway, where the landscape transforms from dry savannah to tropical coastal lowland — baobabs give way to coconut palms and mango trees. Cross the Likoni Ferry with views of Mombasa's old harbour, then continue south along the palm-lined coast road. By early afternoon, you arrive at Diani Beach — your reward after four days of safari. White coral sand stretches endlessly, the turquoise Indian Ocean laps gently at the shore, and the warm coastal breeze carries the scent of frangipani.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch
