Day-by-Day Itinerary
Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve
## 250-300km, approx 5-6 hrs 5:00 AM. Your driver-guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel or airport. Board the shared 4x4 pop-top Land Cruiser with your fellow travelers — the roof hatches open for 360-degree game viewing. We pause in Narok for a breakfast break — Kenyan chai and snacks. Beyond town, tarmac turns to red earth and the landscape shifts to Maasai rangeland. Your guide points out herdsmen in bright shukas and circular boma homesteads fenced with acacia branches. Arrive at the Mara around 10:30 AM. As you enter the park, the vast expanse opens — rolling hills, golden savannahs, and over 95 mammal species. Game viewing begins immediately. Picnic lunch at the Mara River — the Great Migration's dramatic crossing point. Hippos snort in the shallows, crocodiles patrol deeper pools. Afternoon game drives explore the plains where elephants, buffalo, giraffe, and big cats roam freely. Head to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and the sounds of the African night.
Masai Mara – Nairobi
## 250-300km, approx 5-6 hrs return 6:00 AM. Rise early to catch the wildlife as the day awakens — golden morning light across the Mara hills is a photographer's dream. Lions return from night hunts, cheetahs scan the plains, and hyenas slink back to their dens. After the drive, return for a hearty breakfast. If there's an area you'd like to revisit, let your guide know. Optionally, visit a local Maasai village ($25 per person) to learn about their herding culture and witness their jumping dance. Or ask about the hot air balloon safari ($460 per person) — floating silently over the Mara at dawn with champagne breakfast on landing. We round out with a final game drive as we exit the park, making the most of every last minute. The return journey takes you past the towering escarpments of the Great Rift Valley with breaks to refresh along the way. Arrive in Nairobi early evening, approximately 5:00–6:00 PM. Drop-off at your hotel, airport, or wherever you need to be.
