6:00 AM. Your driver-guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel and you set off south along the Namanga Road. The drive takes you through rolling farmlands and open savannah, with Mount Kilimanjaro gradually revealing itself on the southern horizon — its snow-capped peak shimmering above the morning haze. After roughly four hours, you arrive at Amboseli National Park and check into your safari lodge in time for lunch. By early afternoon you're out on your first game drive.
