Depart Nairobi in the early morning and drive south toward Amboseli National Park, approximately 4 to 5 hours. The drive passes through Maasai land with views of the vast East African plains. Spend a full day exploring Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Continue exploring the vast Masai Mara ecosystem. Drive to different sectors to maximise wildlife sightings and habitat diversity. The reserve covers 1,510 square kilometres of open grassland, riverine forest, and acacia woodland, each supporting different species. An optional hot air balloon safari offers sunrise views over the reserve from above. Rise early for a final morning game drive in the Masai Mara, taking advantage of the golden hour light and active predators. After brunch at camp, depart for Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon. Catch a morning flight from Nairobi to Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival, your Uganda driver-guide meets you for the drive to Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda, approximately 5 hours. Alternatively, a domestic charter flight to Kasese can be arranged. Kibale Forest is Africa's premier primate destination, home to 13 primate species including the largest population of chimpanzees in Uganda. Arrive at your lodge near the forest edge by late afternoon.

After an early breakfast, report to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for your chimpanzee tracking briefing. Enter the forest with an experienced guide and tracker to search for habituated chimpanzee communities. The trek usually takes 2 to 4 hours through stunning tropical rainforest, and once the chimps are found, you spend one hour observing them as they swing through the canopy, forage for fruit, and communicate with their distinctive calls. The forest is also home to red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Afternoon at leisure or take a Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk to see more primates and over 200 bird species.

Drive south from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a relatively short journey of about 2 hours. This diverse park spans the equator and encompasses savannah, wetlands, crater lakes, and dense forest. After checking into your lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive along the Kasenyi Plains where lions, leopards, Uganda kob, and warthogs roam. The park supports over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species.

Morning game drive in the famous Ishasha sector in the south of the park, known for its tree-climbing lions that drape themselves over the branches of large fig trees. This unique behaviour is rarely seen elsewhere in Africa. In the afternoon, take a two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, one of the finest wildlife boat experiences in Africa. Cruise past enormous pods of hippos, elephants bathing at the water's edge, buffalo herds, and dozens of waterbird species including pelicans, skimmers, and African fish eagles.

Depart Queen Elizabeth and drive through the Ishasha sector to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, approximately 3 to 4 hours through stunning highland scenery. As the elevation increases, the landscape transforms from open savannah to dense tropical montane forest. Arrive at your Bwindi lodge, set among the misty hills on the edge of the ancient forest. Rest in the afternoon and attend the gorilla trekking briefing. Your guide will provide essential information on what to wear, what to carry, and what to expect during tomorrow's trek.

The crown jewel of the entire journey. Report to the park ranger station at 7:30am for the gorilla trekking briefing and group assignment. Set out into the dense Bwindi forest with trackers and armed rangers, navigating steep terrain, tangled vegetation, and muddy paths. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, but every step builds anticipation. When you finally encounter the gorilla family, the world falls silent. Spend one remarkable hour observing the silverback, mothers, juveniles, and infants at incredibly close range. This intimate encounter is widely regarded as the most moving wildlife experience on earth. Return to your lodge to celebrate.

A well-deserved rest day at your Bwindi lodge. Those who wish can purchase a second gorilla trekking permit for another family visit, or take a guided nature walk along the forest edge to spot birds and primates without the intensity of the gorilla trek. Visit a Batwa pygmy community to learn about their ancient forest heritage through cultural demonstrations, songs, and stories. The afternoon is yours to relax, journal, or simply absorb the atmosphere of this extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After breakfast, begin the return journey to Entebbe by road or domestic flight from Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip. The road journey passes through scenic southwestern Uganda with opportunities for final photographs and roadside market stops.
