Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi Arrival

Welcome to Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your driver meets you and transfers you to your Nairobi hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have an opportunity to explore the city — visit the Giraffe Centre in the leafy suburb of Karen, or the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where baby elephants rescued from across Kenya are rehabilitated. If you arrive in the evening, settle in and rest ahead of an early start tomorrow. Your guide will brief you over dinner on the incredible journey ahead — ten days covering Kenya's most iconic parks and ending at the Indian Ocean coast.

Meals:Dinner
Day 2

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

Depart Nairobi by 7:00 AM heading northwest towards Lake Nakuru — approximately two and a half hours through the fertile highlands of central Kenya. The road climbs through lush farmland before descending into the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park by mid-morning and begin an extended game drive. This compact park is a rhino sanctuary home to both black and white rhinos, and its alkaline lake draws hundreds of flamingos that create shimmering pink bands along the shoreline. Drive through the yellow-barked fever tree forest watching for Rothschild's giraffes, waterbuck, and leopards. Climb to Baboon Cliff for a sweeping panorama of the lake, the surrounding escarpment, and the flamingo flocks below. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions, occasionally seen lounging in the branches of euphorbia trees. Check into your lodge overlooking the lake.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3

Nakuru to Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru heading west towards the Masai Mara — roughly four to five hours' drive through the Rift Valley floor and the wheat fields around Narok. Enter Maasai country where herdsmen wrapped in red shukas watch over their cattle, and the landscape opens into the Mara's golden grasslands. Arrive by early afternoon and head straight into the reserve for your first game drive. The Masai Mara is Africa's Big Five capital, and the sheer density of wildlife here is staggering — wildebeest and zebra herds stretch to the horizon, lions doze beneath acacia trees, and cheetahs scan the plains from termite mounds. Your guide tracks predators with expert precision, reading the bush for signs of a hunt. As the sun sets, the savannah glows amber and the calls of nightjars fill the cooling air.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4

Full Day Masai Mara

A full day in the Masai Mara — every game drive reveals new drama. Rise at 6:00 AM and head out into the cool morning when predators are most active. Drive along the Mara River watching for massive Nile crocodiles, hippo pods, and — during migration season — the explosive wildebeest river crossings that have made this park world-famous. Explore the Mara Triangle with its rolling hills and exceptional visibility. Spot elephants moving through riverine forest, topi standing sentinel on ridgelines, and hyena dens where playful cubs wrestle outside their burrows. An optional hot air balloon safari at dawn lifts you silently above the herds for a once-in-a-lifetime perspective. Return for lunch, then a different sector in the afternoon — perhaps tracking a leopard through the croton thickets or watching a cheetah hunt unfold across the open plains in the golden afternoon light.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5

Mara to Lake Naivasha

After a final morning game drive in the Mara, depart heading east towards Lake Naivasha — around three to four hours' drive through the Rift Valley. Arrive by early afternoon at this beautiful freshwater lake fringed by papyrus beds and fever trees. Check into your lakeside accommodation, then head out for a boat ride on the lake. Glide past pods of hippos that surface and snort just metres from your boat, while African fish eagles swoop overhead with their piercing calls. The lake is a birdwatcher's paradise — pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, and herons line the shore. In the late afternoon, visit Crescent Island for a walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and waterbuck — one of the few places in Kenya where you can walk freely among wild animals without a vehicle. Return to your lodge as the sun sets behind the Mau Escarpment.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6

Naivasha to Amboseli

Depart Lake Naivasha after breakfast for the long but scenic drive south to Amboseli National Park — approximately five to six hours via Nairobi and the Namanga Road. The route takes you through the highlands, skirting the capital, before heading south across the Athi Plains towards the Tanzanian border. As you near Amboseli, Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the southern sky — Africa's highest peak at 5,895 metres, its glaciers gleaming in the afternoon light. Arrive by late afternoon and settle into your safari lodge with its spectacular Kilimanjaro views. A sunset game drive introduces you to Amboseli's famous elephant herds — some of the largest-tusked in Africa. Family groups move through the swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's underground springs, their silhouettes backlit against the mountain's purple evening profile. Watch for lions, hyenas, and jackals as darkness gathers over the plains.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7

Amboseli to Diani Beach

Enjoy an early sunrise game drive in Amboseli — catching Kilimanjaro at its clearest before clouds gather by mid-morning. Elephants, buffalo, and wildebeest move across the open plains in the golden morning light. After breakfast, depart for the coast. You'll transfer to the nearest airstrip for a flight to Ukunda on the South Coast, or travel via the SGR train from Nairobi — a comfortable, modern journey of roughly five hours that takes you through the Tsavo landscape. Either way, you arrive at Diani Beach by mid to late afternoon. The change is dramatic — from dusty red savannah to tropical paradise. White coral sand, turquoise Indian Ocean, swaying coconut palms, and warm salt air welcome you to Kenya's premier beach destination. Check into your beach resort and spend the evening with your toes in the sand, the sound of waves replacing the calls of the bush.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch
Day 8

Diani Beach

Your first full day on Diani Beach — and the tropical pace sets in immediately. Wake to the sound of waves and the chatter of tropical birds in the palm canopy. The morning is yours: swim in the bathwater-warm Indian Ocean, float over the coral reef on a glass-bottom boat, or walk the endless white sand beach in either direction. For the adventurous, Diani offers superb snorkelling right off the beach — parrotfish, angelfish, and green sea turtles glide through the clear warm water. You can also try kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or deep-sea fishing. In the afternoon, visit the Colobus Conservation Centre to see the endangered black-and-white colobus monkeys living in the coastal forest canopy. Enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on the beach as the Indian Ocean sunset paints the sky in shades of orange and pink.

Meals:Breakfast, Dinner
Day 9

Diani Beach

Another day of Indian Ocean paradise with the option of a full-day excursion to Wasini Island and Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. Drive south to Shimoni village and board a traditional wooden dhow that sails across the turquoise channel. Watch for pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins surfacing alongside the boat — sightings are common year-round in these waters. At Kisite Marine Park, snorkel above pristine coral gardens alive with tropical fish, sea urchins, and starfish. A Swahili seafood lunch on Wasini Island — crab, grilled fish, pilau rice, and fresh coconut — is served under the shade of mangrove trees. Return to Diani by late afternoon. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing at your resort, exploring local markets, or booking a sunset dhow cruise along the coast.

Meals:Breakfast, Dinner
Day 10

Departure

Your final morning on the Kenyan coast. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with ocean views, perhaps a last swim or a barefoot stroll along the sand watching local fishermen prepare their dhows for the morning catch. Depending on your departure time, you may have a few hours to pick up last-minute souvenirs — Swahili spices, carved soapstone, or kikoy fabrics from the local beach vendors. Transfer to Ukunda airstrip for your flight to Nairobi, or to Moi International Airport in Mombasa for onward connections. As you depart, look back on ten incredible days — from the flamingo-fringed shores of Lake Nakuru, to the lion-filled Mara, the elephant kingdom of Amboseli, and the turquoise bliss of Diani Beach. This is Kenya at its finest.
