Time Capsule of Full-Day ‘Into Africa’ Tour
8 am – We’ll pick you up from your hotel or place of choice for the drive to the Karen Blixen Museum. Get a taste of colonial Africa at the residence of world-famous author and icon, Karen Blixen where she wrote her noted memoirs, “Out of Africa”. The charming farmhouse served as Blixen’s home for close to 20 years.
It’s a short drive to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where we’ll delight as baby elephants are fed from giant baby bottles! Feeding time is at 11 am and we’ll be there to see the handlers “nursing” their babies, followed by playtime in great mud puddles.
We’ll also learn how these orphans came to this internationally known care center, how they are raised and the plans for eventually re-introducing them back into the wild.
Lunch will follow on the charming grounds of the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden. Surrounded by ancient trees and colorful flowers, rest and enjoy the full menu served in this historic spot.
The Giraffe Centre is a Nairobi landmark, famous as a sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild’s
Giraffe. You and scores of bright-eyed Kenyan schoolchildren can climb the platform to feed the giraffe.
We’ll wind up our tour at Kazuri Beads, the local community’s expression of artistry and self-determination. A startling workshop of brightly beaded color and pottery, Kazuri employs over 350 single mothers, handcrafting their futures of artistic vision and financial independence.
At the tour’s end, we’ll depart for your hotel or other location of your choice for drop off
