Wildlife, Culture & History — All in One Day
Step into an unforgettable day where wild Africa meets a modern capital city. With Collective African Safaris (CATS), you’ll experience an extraordinary blend of wildlife encounters, cultural heritage, and community impact—all within Nairobi and its surroundings.
From the moment we collect you in your private pop-top 4×4 safari vehicle, you’ll realize this is no ordinary city tour. In just one day, you’ll enjoy what feels like a full week of African discovery.
Your Day at a Glance
Early Morning Pickup – 6:30 am
Your CATS driver-guide will collect you from your hotel, residence, or the airport. A short drive brings you straight into one of the most unique wildlife sanctuaries on Earth—Nairobi National Park, just minutes from the city center.
Nairobi National Park – Safari with a Skyline View
There is nowhere else in the world where you can photograph lions, rhinos, giraffes, and buffalo roaming free—with skyscrapers rising in the background.
As you explore the open savannah, you may encounter:
- Lions, leopards, and cheetahs
- Endangered black rhinos
- Giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and impalas
- Seasonal wildebeest and zebra migration
You’ll also stop at the Ivory Burning Monument, a powerful symbol of Kenya’s commitment to protecting elephants and fighting illegal ivory trade.
This morning safari offers remarkable sightings and unbeatable photo opportunities.
David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (11:00 am Feeding Time)
Next, we visit one of Nairobi’s most beloved conservation centers—the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Here, rescued baby elephants are lovingly cared for until they are strong enough to return to the wild. Watch as keepers bottle-feed the young elephants and guide them through playful mud baths. It’s heartwarming, educational, and unforgettable.
Lunch Experience – Your Choice
Enjoy lunch at one of Nairobi’s iconic dining spots:
- Karen Blixen Coffee Garden
A peaceful garden setting offering classic elegance, history, and a full menu.
OR
- Carnivore Restaurant
A world-famous dining experience featuring a wide variety of meats, including ostrich and crocodile, served in a lively atmosphere.
Karen Blixen Museum – Out of Africa
Step into history at the former home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa. Nestled at the foot of the Ngong Hills, this beautifully preserved farmhouse tells the story of colonial-era Kenya through original furnishings, photographs, and film memorabilia from the iconic movie.
Giraffe Centre – Meet the Gentle Giants
At the Giraffe Centre, you’ll come face-to-face with the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. From a raised platform, feed these towering animals and—if you’re lucky—receive a playful giraffe kiss.
You’ll also see local schoolchildren learning about conservation, adding to the lively and educational atmosphere.
Kazuri Beads – Culture with Purpose
Our final stop is Kazuri Beads, meaning “small and beautiful” in Swahili. This inspiring social enterprise empowers local women by providing skills and employment through handcrafted beads and pottery.
Watch artisans at work and browse the vibrant gift shop—each purchase directly supports sustainable livelihoods.
Tour Conclusion – Around 6:00 pm
After a full day of wildlife, history, culture, and community, your guide will return you to your hotel, the airport, or your preferred drop-off point.
