Day 1: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary
Drive Time: Approx. 3–4 hours
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
At 7:30 am, your adventure begins as you set off from Nairobi in your private safari vehicle. The journey through Laikipia County offers a scenic introduction to Kenya’s countryside, passing rolling farmlands, coffee and tea estates, and pineapple plantations. Along the way, there may be time to stop at a local market and enjoy sweeping views of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak.
You’ll also pause briefly at the Equator, marking your crossing between the northern and southern hemispheres.
Upon arrival at Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll discover one of Kenya’s most diverse and conservation-focused reserves. The sanctuary is home to a protected population of endangered black rhinos, along with lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and the elusive African wild dog.
Other wildlife commonly seen includes hippos, baboons, monkeys, zebras, gazelles, impalas, and hartebeests roaming the open plains.
A highlight of Ol Pejeta is the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where rescued and orphaned chimpanzees are rehabilitated in a natural yet protected environment.
Enhance your experience with optional activities available at this private reserve. Visit a local Maasai village to learn about traditional customs, culture, and ceremonies, or opt for a rare night game drive—a thrilling journey into the darkness where nocturnal wildlife emerges and glowing eyes pierce the night.
After a rewarding day, settle in for the evening at your chosen safari lodge or tented camp. Some accommodations overlook watering holes, offering unforgettable nighttime wildlife sightings.
Day 2: Ol Pejeta – Nairobi
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
You may awaken to the sounds of the African bush—monkeys calling, chimps vocalizing, or even distant lions and elephants welcoming the dawn. An early morning game drive offers the best opportunity to observe wildlife in the soft, golden light of sunrise.
Return to camp for breakfast before heading out again to explore the sanctuary, tracking more big game across the plains.
After lunch, enjoy a final game drive as you exit Ol Pejeta, taking in last sightings of this remarkable reserve.
You’ll arrive back in Nairobi in the early evening, with drop-off at your preferred location.
